Farberware Percolators Review

I've happilly enjoyed Farberware's larger 20-cup electric percolator that is still brewing some wonderful coffee after 10 years.All I had to replace was the electric cord, which petered out after 3 years.
I've had this model for a few months and think that it will also last a long, long time (don't know about the cord, though).This machine looks terrifically retro, is easy to clean and keeps the coffee consistenly hot for hours.After tasting coffee here, you won't go back to your old drip machine.
My advice to you is:
1. Don't overfill the basket with grinds, because it's very easy to make a STRONG cup of coffee with this.We like strong coffee, so this is a good thing.
2. Clean it w/soap & water as soon as you are finished with it to protect the pot.I also clean it out with Dip-It every 6 weeks or so to remove the coffee stains from the inside and make it shiny and new-looking.
3.At most supermarkts you can buy little paper disc filters that sit in the bottom of the jar and keep the smaller grinds from falling into the water.It also filters out alleged carcinogens that are not removed by traditional percolators or coffee presses.
I would actually give this 4.5 stars, because sadly, these newer models are now made in China rather than the Farberware factory in the Bronx.

Farberware Classic Yosemite Stainless Steel Percolator Review

Perked coffee is old school, to be sure, but a well-made cup of percolated brew is robust and satisfying in a way that drip coffee isn't.Not only does the percolation process provide a deeper and fuller mouth, I think, but a percolator, bubbling away, is a lovely sight and sound.
If you don't like perked coffee, don't bother with any percolator.But if you are interested in something other than drip brew, consider this Farberware percolator.I'm not one to ooh and ahh over design, but this is a darned handsome piece of kitchen equipment.Take a look and the large picture and I will spare you the adjectives.:)
The stainless steel construction makes it sturdier and heftier than thin-metal percolators you might buy in the camping gear section of a chain store.While the name "Yosemite" evokes coffee bubbling over a campfire, I'd probably not use this on a wood fire to avoid blackening. I mean, this thing really is shiny and pretty.But as heavy-duty as it is, perhaps it would clean up well.
It's a capacious pot, making eight cups of coffee.The interior basket and rod are well made, fitting tightly together and clamping in place with the lock-down lid.It makes more coffee than my old electric percolator, but it does take up a burner on the stove-top.
Lastly, should you buy this unit, remember:Perked coffe may be good, but it's a danged sight hotter than drip brew.Of course, you'll probably figure that out for yourself...

Cuisinart DCC-1100 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemakers Review

After buying a succession of cheap coffee makers which broke down after a year or two and made mediocre coffee, I decided to upgrade to Cuisinart.
I don't agree with the negative comments about this product.
The clock is easy to program and it's clearly indicated that you should either use paper or gold filter (twice in the instructions). It's also easy to pour water in the reservoir if you use the carafe.You can turn the coffee maker to the left, and the reservoir opening is easily accessible.Its opening is by no means tiny, as a reviewer described it.
The center funnel which holds the filter is well situated and there is very little risk of dropping coffee grounds into the water reservoir.
The carafe is well designed, with a comfortable handle.It pours neatly, without dripping coffee all over the counter, something which always happened with my old Mr. Coffee.
You do have to realize the lid snaps down on top of the carafe.This is not explained in the instructions.
Most importantly, it makes an excellent coffee.
There is a 3 year guaranty which is more than I have seen for others.
So far, I have no complaint, and I am glad I bought this product for a great price.

Black & Decker DCM2500B SmartBrew Coffeemaker Review

Because we're serious about our coffee, we sold our old $100+ Cuisinart coffeemaker to be replaced with this much better designed and much easier to use coffee maker.

A motel room we stayed at had this model coffee maker. We used it twice a day for 10 days. The coffee was delicious and we found no minuses at all, so I bought one. We've been using it daily now for about three months.

The carafe is made of heavy duty glass and doesn't drip at all. The hole to pour water into is large and easy to get to. There are convenient and accurate water level windows on both sides of the unit. The controls are convenient, easy to understand, and easy to use. The basket is easily removed for cleaning, easy to position, and uses standard flat bottomed filters. The time and function displays are large and bright. All of these are comparative problem areas in the Cuisinart.

Programming works perfectly and is so simple to use we didn't need the manual. To set the time of day press the "Hours" button until it reaches the current hour and then the "Minutes" button. To set the "Auto on" time, press the "Program" button, and then set the start time the same way. Press the "Program" button again to go back to time of day. For auto start, press the "Auto on" button, which lights up. That's it.

In addition, the water enters the drip chamber in a shower rather than a stream, resulting in consistently smooth and uniform tasting coffee. I can't comment on the warming plate because we put what we don't drink immediately into a Thermos for all day use. The warming plate shuts itself off after two hours if you forget.

The negative reviews are a puzzle to me. We found none of the problems mentioned.

This is an addendum in mid Nov, 2007. The coffeemaker still makes perfect coffee and everything works like new. The only negative I'd add is that the warming plate is quite rusty, probably because I put a pot of tap water on it at night to have chlorine free water in the morning. Often the pot is damp. When we need to replace this coffeemaker, I'll paint the new warming plate with bar-b-cue paint before the first use, for rust protection.

This is an update, dated 11/20/07. The coffeemaker still works perfectly and still looks good. I sanded the rust off of the base plate, painted it with bar-b-cue paint, and as expected there is no more rust problem. I don't think the rust would occur for most people. I caused it by putting a wet pot on the plate overnight seven days a week.

Mr. Coffee Programmable Coffeemakers Review

We all know that too much coffee is terrible for the body in several ways.So, instead of using the 12-cup coffee maker, we decided to go with a smaller one - to force me to drink less coffee.I love this product for a number of reasons.

Pros:
- Perfect size for a single coffee drinker.
- Timer is great.Every other 4-cup maker that I found were switch based without a timer setting.Timer settings are really helpful when you want to just get your coffee and go.
- Easy to clean.This product has a removeable filter cup for easy cleaning.Also, the auto-pause in brewing is helpful to both allow for quick removal and less spilling.

Cons:
- It takes a little longer to brew 4 cups with this maker as it does in a larger maker.This may simply be due to the size of the product.

Summary:
- I really like this product.It makes coffee perfectly.It is compact and takes up very little space.It is perfect for my coffee needs.

Imusa Cast Aluminum Caldero 30 centimeter, 6.9 Quart, NSF Certified Review

I received it as a gift a few years ago. The caldero quickly became my "go to" pot. It makes perfect rice everytime.It heats evenly. I use it for frying or one pot meals. My friend helped me make suace from fresh tomatoes, and she fell in love with my caldero. She tried to "steal" it from me! I found this one on Amazon to give her for Christmas.
