XL Sushi mold food mold for bento box Lunch box (Two shape) Review

XL Sushi mold food mold for bento box Lunch boxI make onigiri with my hands, the way my mother did when I was a kid.Wet your hands, add salt and/or sesame seeds and shape the rice as desired. This works great, but of course I tried to make cute little shapes for my kids' lunchboxes.I must be doing something wrong, because once I pack this mold well and compress hard, the ball just won't come out in one piece.I tried it by spraying cooking oil on the inside of the mold. This helps, but then of course there's cooking oil on the rice.Wish I could figure this out!So I don't blame the design of this mold, I blame myself.I give it 4 stars for clever-ness, and give me 1 star for dexterity!

Metrokane Vertical Rabbit Lever Style Corkscrew with Foil Cutter, Candy Apple Red Review

Metrokane Vertical Rabbit Lever Style Corkscrew with Foil Cutter, Candy Apple RedNot long ago I wrote a review of the Screwpull Revolutionary New Lever Pull. I've since also acquired a Metrokane Vertical Rabbit and I'm so happy with it that I feel compelled to write a review on it as well.

While the Screwpull is lovely and sculptural, the Metrokane is sexy and fun. The former is priced from $130 to $150 on Amazon, and the latter is $50 to $60. Each comes with a foil cutter, but the Metrokane also comes with a replacement screw. The Screwpull arrives in a very attractive leather presentation case which would look good anywhere, whereas the Metrokane arrives in a hinged plastic container which you could probably throw away. The taller and more angular Screwpull seems to be largely made of metal and has a noticable heft; the Metrokane handle is made of metal, but the body is plastic. It doesn't feel nearly as substanial as the Screwpull, but I don't find that to be a problem. Both pullers stand upright and would look fine perched on a table or sideboard.

As of this writing, the taller and more angular Screwpull seems to be offered only in satin with black accents, and the curvy Metrokane in black, gunmetal gray, and the one I bought, candy apple red. The Vertial Rabbit, true to its name, has a hint of an eye on either side so when looked at in profile, it gives the appearance of a rabbit. I probably should deduct a star for too much cuteness, but that's part of the fun of the Rabbit.

The operation of the two is somewhat different. The base of the Screwpull ia sprung open and must be squeezed to hold it onto the bottle. The lever is then thrown more than 180 degrees to pierce the cork, and then brought back the same amoount to remove it from the bottle. The cork is removed from the device by throwing the lever back and forth once more. Simple, fluid, magical.

Rather than being held open, the Metrokane base is held closed by a spring. Not a big deal. In contrast to the Screwpull, the lever is pulled up (or cocked) before placing it over the neck of the bottle. The throw, however, is engineered to be only 90 degrees versus the Screwpulls 180+ degrees. and falls into place at each end of the throw with a satisfying "clunk". The removal of the cork from the bottle and from the device is the same as with the Screwpull.

For some reason, I find it a little easier to remember to remove the cork from the Metrokane. It may be because when it is removed from the bottle, the handle is in the cocked position and it's obvious the process isn't yet complete.

Which is the better choice? I'm delighted with both for entirely different reasons and use them interchangably. I can't comment on longevity since neither has given a hint of trouble. I don't consider either easier to use, although it could be argued that the Metrokane with less than half the throw of the Screwpull might be easier, plus I really think I'm more likely to remember to remove the cork afterward with it. The Screwpull with its elegance, metal construction, heft, and presentation box would perhaps be the better choice for an impressive gift; whereas the Metrokane at 1/2 to 1/3 the price and with an extra screw is far and away the better value. Choose either one and you'll be happy.

Metrokane Rabbit 6-Piece Wine-Tool Kit, Black Review

Metrokane Rabbit 6-Piece Wine-Tool Kit, BlackI could *not* believe my eyes the first time I saw someone use a Rabbit. I've shredded SO many corks and even broken bottles trying to get corks out. I've tried so many different kinds of corkscrews (and the two-pronged non-screw-type cork-pullers), and I've been all kinds of frustrated. I'm a big and strong guy, and I've still been frustrated at how hard some corkscrews are to use.
Enter the Rabbit. It's hard to visualize from the picture, but it is SUPER-EASY, once you figure it out.
1) Flip the top over, away from the cork, raising the screw (sometimes called the "worm")
2) Place the two handles on either side of the bottle-neck, positioning the tip of the worm over the cork.
3) Squeeze the handles together to hold the bottle.
4) Bring the top handle up and over, which pushes the worm into the cork -- so easy you can't believe it.
5) Take the top handle back to where it started, and the cork is out! No muss, no fuss, no cuss!

Removing the cork from the worm is just as easy:
6) Bring the top handle back over, as if to put the cork back in the bottle, only without the bottle there.
7) Squeeze the side handles around/on the cork.
8) Bring the top handle back away to remove the worm, while holding the cork with the side handles.

Okay, the ad says "3 seconds". I put closer to five seconds, plus ten more to remove the cork. This is the easiest and best corkscrew I've ever used, and I'd say it's WELL worth the price. The "gift set" is nice, but personally, I don't think it's worth the extra price compared to just the Rabbit without the gift set. I do, however, recommend the Metrokane "Save-the-Wine" Vacuum Pump.

Oh, one more thing -- I've heard other people say that it doesn't work well on the new plastic-style "corks", but I haven't had any problems. It works great on them for me.

Metrokane Red V.I.P. Polished "Sterling Model" Rabbit Corkscrew Review

Metrokane Red V.I.P. Polished 'Sterling Model' Rabbit CorkscrewI found this great Rabbit Corkscrew all in one box(it actually opens on a side hinge ) for my oldest daughter for when she turned 21. We had an "imitation rabbit" given to us 2 years old,and without a great deal of use it fell apart. I had originally purchased the first rabbit from a specialty shop. Realizing my next daughter would soon be 21 I wanted to buy the same. I was dissapointed to find it had only been a special order available over Christmas.
Luckily,I found this one on Amazon. It's even a little better in that the silver plate on the front has a space to engrave a name. I don't really encourage my children to drink by giving them liquor as gifts, but I thought this would be a nice memory for their future dinners. The price ,I think, is a good bargin. Our friends paid more at Sharper Image and it fell apart too. Additionally the box allows you to keep all the extra pieces in one place, not in a kitchen drawer,LOST!
