Presto 02910 SaladShooter Electric Slicer/Shredder Review

We laughed and laughed when we received this "as seen on TV" slicing and, well, grating "miracle product" as a gift. Who would actually use such a crazy thing?Well, it turns out that we would, frequently. It may not dice, but it does slice beautifully - thin and uniform, as well as grating everything from cheese to potatoes to carrots to ... you name it. We use it almost daily. If you're a vegetable eater or a cheese lover, you won't know how you lived without it. Easy to assemble and disassemble, and it's dishwasher safe, although you do have to position the parts correctly to maximize water flow and cleaning. You can do a fine or a coarse grate, a straight or a wavy slice. You can even get an ice shaver for making snow cones. It does have some limitations. While it grates all kinds of cheeses (softer cheeses work best when chilled), it can't slice cheese at all. Nor does it slice onions, celery or other "stringy" vegetables well. It will grate them, though. It slices cucumbers, carrots, summer squash and similar vegetables beautifully, but the chute is too narrow to slice most cukes or zukes whole -- you'll have to split them lengthwise.

Progressive International Jumbo Tower Grater Review

It's very tall for a grater, and the knob on the top fits right into you palm, and it makes grating very easy. I've had this for over a year now.., no sign of rust or aging. It's held up well.., no dents or dings and the black feet and top are holding up just fine.

I'd easily say this is the best grater I've ever had. It's very simple, yet very practicle. The way it's in a pyramid shape.., I haven't shredded a knuckle yet. I like the sizes of the holes.., I shred a lot of ginger and it works really well for that. (Hint, if you're going to shred ginger get a big hunk, rub off the peel with a spoon, (yes really, it works), and then freeze it before you shred it)

Tupperware Grate 'n Measure Grater Review

It works well...grates cheese, carrots, and cabbage easily. I'm not sure how accurate the measurements are. It does get messy so I always put down a paper towel or waxed paper under it while I grate, but other than that it's easy to use and it doesn't get rusty :)

Microplane Premium Zester/Grater Review

I find this to be a better tool for zesting than the traditional zester.I use less effort zesting with this Microplane to remove only the rind and not get to that white pith that is very bitter.And most of the zest collects underneath the tool or falls from below.A few minor raps and the most of the collected zest fall away.When I use the traditional zesting tool, I get quite a bit of the zest and essential oil on my hands.

This Microplane is fairly easy to wash and clean.But, after washing, hold the handle and shake out the water that collects in the handle.Then place the Microplane with the handle up after washing so the water dries out from the handle.

I see that there is a newer version of this tool with a shorter and wider rasp area.The tool also includes a small and large strip zester.

PROS:Removes the zest with less effort and better control (without removing the bitter pith).Easily collects the zest without it collecting on your hands.

CONS:The rasp and handle area is not totally sealed or removable to either prevent food to collect under the handle or to allow thorough cleaning.

Cuisipro Stainless Steel Coarse Grater Review

If you don't want to worry about hurting yourself shredding cheese and you have plenty of drawer space then this is for you.It does fit in the dishwasher nicely, it's solid, the rubber bumpers are nice.We're still using it but I'm looking for something better.

Tom Douglas by Pinzon Microplane Gourmet Series Fine Grater Review

I think this is a fantastic grater.Exactly what I was looking for.I used it to grate some dark chocolate to top a coffee latte.

It is very sharp and has a comfortable handle.I appreciate the plastic cover that clips on top of the blade and is designed to protect the little teeth from damage if the grater is stored in the drawer.

Not sure why it is not pictured, but mine came with a little slider attachment that is designed to keep fingers away from the blade.It clips on top of the blade and slides easily from the top of the blade to the bottom.The attachment has a tall profile with a square opening and a square pusher that goes into it. It helps to minimize waste and save finger tips at the same time.
