Dansk Rondure 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1 Review

I had high hopes for this tableware when I ordered it (not from Amazon btw) based on this review and other reviews of Dansk and the quality. Well boy was I let down when I received the 10 sets - the spoons were mostly not round and had a combination of flat spots along the edges which made them irregular, varying thickness of the edges, various peices had rough spots/edges that were not polished, pitting/cuts in surfaces, scratches, and the just about all the spoons 'drooped down along the bottom adding to the overall distorted looking circles.

My husband and I really like the design and I wanted to find a way to keep it. I tried contacting Dansk several times about a solution, suggested replacing the worst of the pieces individually since the boxes of individual place settings seemed doomed to have problems, but in spite of the message "a customer service representative will respond in 24 hours" I never got a response.Seems that they do not care that their quality is failing miserably nor do they care about customer service at all.

Sorry to say that it looks like I will be forced to return the Dansk :( , buy at your own risk.

iittala Tools 2-Quart Saucepan with Lid Review

The 2-quart saucepan with lid is very solidly made. Women tell me they are just too heavy. For a man this is not an issue, but I have some objections; firstly, the handle is heavy so the pan doesn't sit flat on my ceramic hob until it is nearly half full; secondly, the lid is a tight fit (good) but there is no way to adjust the amount of steam that can escape. Thus it is all too easy to let the contents boil over. In fact rice or pasta is a no no with the lid on. Finally, the lid handle can get too hot. I have Polaris pans also by Hackman. These are over 25 years old. Still inexcellent condition, much lighter, but clearly strong enough and they don't have any of these issues. In a nutshell, the DAHLSTROM pans look brilliant and are very nice to use. They are fantastically well made but not as functional as they should be for the money. You can do better.

iittala Sarpaneva 3-Quart Cast Iron Casserole with Wooden Handle Review

I was suprised to see this on amazon, its a design classic and something I've always wanted. The pot is heavy cast iron with a white enamel interior and is made very well. The handle on mine had a bit of the finish off where it slides through the pot, but I figured this would happen with use regardless.Love it!
