Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 8-Quart Multipot Review

I basically bought this pot because it has the two basket inserts:one for steaming vegetables, and one for boiling other items.

It does exactly what I want to do.I dice up some rutabagas, turnips, and carrots, steam them for a while, and then mash them into a lovely side dish.Spaghetti is likewise more easily removed and drained.

Don't remember life without it.

All-Clad Stainless 7-Quart Stockpot with Pasta Insert Review

I have been eyeing this pot for years!I thought it could be replaced by the All-Clad 12-Quart Stainless Multi Cooker with Steamer Basket, but no dice.The multicooker has an aluminum base and takes a while to heat up.Also, unless you're cooking for an army, it's really big.I had been using the All-Clad Stainless Asparagus Pot with Steamer Basket, but it only works for 1-2 people.I needed something in between those two pots!

The pasta pentola is perfect.The seven quart size is nice.I love that it's tall versus wide.Because it is fully clad (aluminum on the bottom and sides), it heats more effeciently than the multicooker and asparagus pot.

The insert works beautifully.It drains well and after draining, you can tilt it over the pot to keep the pasta warm as you finish other items for the dish.

I love that everything is dishwasher safe.You can use Bar Keeper's friend to keep everything shining like new.All-Clad Stainless cookware will last you a lifetime.If there are ever any problems, these come with a lifetime warranty.

If you often cook pasta for a crowd and are an avid soup maker, this pot is worth the investment.I suggest purchasing it over the 6-qt stock pot and the multicooker.If the choice is between this and a Dutch oven, get the Dutch oven and put this on your wish list.

Anolon Advanced Hard-Anodized Aluminum 8-Quart Oval Pasta Pot with Lid Review

I got this because I saw Rachel use it on her food network show.I watched her show occasionally and I like her and some of her ideas although I am not a devoted follower.

I like having a big heavy duty nonstick pot for pasta and it works great for cooking soups and stews.I have stainless steel cookware and compared to my stainless steel pots this is functional and easy to clean.The oval shape is easier to handle compared to a big round tall pot, the dome shaped lid allows more cooking flexibility, it conducts heat well and Anolon makes quality cookware.I also purchased the 5-quart Oval Saute pan and the lids are inter-changeable.This is great for the times you don't need a lid that is domed and taller, has a vent, and you need to see the dish you are cooking.

I like the looks of this line better than her other line with the safety orange handles. That line has the same pot with a flatter glass top with no vent and it is called an 8-quart oval stock pot.

I watched the price for a while before I made a purchase.The price on this pot went up and down; as high as $99.00 and as low as $66.88.A friend who is a longtime Amazon shopper suggested putting it in my cart and waiting until it hit a good price to purchase it I did, I got it at a good price and I am happy.

So this is a great pot heavy duty and cleans easy.If you are a Rachel Ray fan but not into her line of pots with handles the same color of orange construction cones this is a great choice.

Cuisinox Gourmet 8.2 quart Pasta Insert Review

I wish I had had this pasta insert years ago!No more trips to the sink with a heavy pot of pasta in hot water, no more scalding steam coming out as I pour the water in the sink.When the pasta is done, I just lift the insert out of the pot, hold it for a few seconds to let the water drain out, and then dump the pasta in a serving dish. Fits in my 8-quart stockpot but probably could be used in other sized pots as well.
