Other reviewers noted that pie shield should be one inch wider in diameter than the pie pan, so I ordered the 10 inch size rather than the 9 inch and it works good. My pie pans also have medal handles so I cut slits in the pie shield for each handle to accommodate.

William Bounds Sili Pie Crust Protector, Red Review

Before I bought this pie crust protector, I made my own protector from thin strips of aluminum foil, pieced together and perched precariously around the edges of the pie.They tended to slip off when I moved the pie into the oven and were not that great.
I bought this and have used it on a 9" pie plate.I left it on the whole time I was cooking the pie (65 minutes) and the crust came out perfectly browned, not burnt.
The protector was non-stick and cleaned up easily.It does get hot in the oven, so be careful.
Also, a nice touch is that the protector has two "notches" cut into it on opposing sides to allow it to fit snugly on a pie pan with handles.
