Rival SCVPE503 5-quart Programmable Embossed Crock-pot with Little Dipper Review

Rival SCVPE503 5-quart Programmable Embossed Crock-pot with Little DipperWhat a great size this slow cooker is.My first experience using this was cooking 1-1/2 whole chickens. These were large and if cooking slightly smaller ones, 2 could have easily fit.

I love the lift-out crock. This is very attractive, easy to get out of the cooker and table ready if your cooked item doesn't need carving. This also washed up great in the dishwasher.

I can't believe I got along as many years as I did without an automotic off and a cooker that didn't have approximate cooking times. This cooker as well as my last one [same name brand] also had the clear glass lid . . . don't consider one that doesn't have this feature.

The small mini gift sauce warmer came in great for another meal later in the week where cheese sauce was offered.

I think that this is a great item, and a good value.

Old Dutch 48-Ounce Cast-Iron Mythology Teapot, Red Review

Old Dutch 48-Ounce Cast-Iron Mythology Teapot, RedGenerous size & sturdy construction. Well priced for similar items in its size range (purchased when 33% off, free shipping and received in 3 days after ordering). Dragon detail is nice. Color is not as rich as it appears on my computer screen, but still nice. It retains heat very well (still hot after an hour). I would have preferred if the tea infuser basket was deeper. There seems to be about an inch of clearance between the bottom of the basket and the bottom of the tetsubin and, given its squat shape, I felt that I added much more water than I would've preferred just to make sure the tea leaves were completely immersed in the water. It might pose a problem if I decide not to make a full pot of tea.

Metalware Open Country Beef Jerky Works Kit Review

Metalware Open Country Beef Jerky Works KitI purchased their Jerkey Making Kit. I was skeptical of turning ground meat into jerky. I figured it would dry out, fall apart and turn to something like Pemican. To my great surprise it held together and I was using Venison (lower fat content). The Nesco Flavor packets were quite tasty. The Ground meat Jerkey lacks the feel of tradtional strip beef jerkey but makes it easier to eat, especially those with dental issues.
The one problem I have with the jerkey Kit is that it is too small, you get less than 1/2 lb of meat per load, so you have to load the gun at least twice, usually 3 times per pound of meat. Sometimes it can gugle and spit when their is air in the meat. Usually by the last half of the tube the air has call compressed out but then you have to reload. If you really want to make Jerky I would get a gun with a larger capacity. But this gun proved to me it could be done (I had a lot of doubt).
One tip, squirt the meat onto wax paper and then transfer it onto your drying racks (I use the nesco snackmaster) when I squirted directly onto the racks it shoved meat between the grills and made it tough to remove. Maybe I should try it with that herb tray insert
