Bamboo Tong 10 1/2" Review

These tongs are made with bamboo and are thick and heavy. They do not look cheaply made and I cannot see that they have been glued together, so I dont think they will break at the apex. If they do, I will come back and post it. They are also longer than any of the other wooden tongs listed on Amazon, and fit perfectly down into my deep, over-sized toaster. No more burned fingers in my house! I have not used them for bacon or stir fry as mentioned by the other reviewer, but they look long and sturdy enough for those jobs too.

Tom Douglas by Pinzon Stainless-Steel Skimmer with Bamboo Handle Review

Definitely an upgrade from my old strainer! I have a Joyce Chen Strainer which I thought was very nice...until I got this one! This is similar in design, but the Chen one has the basket made from twisted wire, it is almost like miniature chicken wire. If you ever have run your hand over chicken wire, you know it is scratchy. The trouble I had with the scratchy surface was that things seemed to get stuck on it (such as having fragile noodles tear) and it was hard to clean (either you tore up your sponge, got your dish brush bristles stuck in it, or scratched your hand!)This one is made one long spiral of wire arranged concentrically so there are no sharp edges of wire and it is very smooth. Further, the wire on the other model is not as strong as the rings on this one, and it may get bent in your cupboard...not so with this design. Also, the handle on this one is smoother and is attached in a more professional way (the other model is just sort of staples.) The best part is that this one is cheaper than the other model, too!

These are wonderful tools for straining things right out of the pot (without having to dump your liquid into a colander, especially if you are doing things in batches.) If you are debating between the two, do yourself a favor and pick this one!

Totally Bamboo Greenlight Utility Board, Medium Review

I bought another, thicker and larger bamboo cutting board at the same time and I use it more, but this one is very handy to grab and take to my stove area to chop things quickly.It is lightweight, but not at all fragile. The bamboo is much better than regular cutting boards, and I love that they are a quickly renewable resource.The bamboo doesn't seem to soak up liquid the way regular cutting boards do, and it looks a lot better. I love chopping on these bamboo cutting boards. They don't get splits from my knives, and the surface is much more dense and less porous! Everyone who has seen them in my kitchen loves the way they look and asks where I got them.The only thing I would say about this, is pay attention to the measurements of this one, as it is definitely smaller than my other board.
