I purchased a 14 piece Emeril Stainless set in 2008, and I have been very happy with it. The fit, finish and especially the base design were all up to the demands of my GE Profile ceramic cooktop, which had mercilessly warped all pans that came before the Emeril set. At the time, the Emeril Stainless was an excellent alternative to spending megabucks on All Clad.I recently purchased this 8 qt tall stock pot. When it arrived, I was disappointed to see that a number of changes have been made in the product. The handle, lid and base design have all been modified, and in each case, the appearance, heft and quality have been reduced. Most alarming is the changes in the base. The weight and thickness of the base has been reduced significantly (30-40%). There is no getting around the fact that mass of the base matters. It affects the distribution of heat in the pan, and how resilient the pan will be to abuse.
It might be one thing if this was my first piece of Emeril Stainless.Unfortuanley, I have seen what the product was two years ago and I am dissappointed.
