I have a blue set of these bowls that I've had since at least 2001 & they're absolutely great! Because they are ceramic lined you can put hot or cold food inside without worry of any chemicals leaching into the food or any off-flavors developing. You can use them for prep & mixing and also storage with the tight fitting lids. I ordered this 2nd set (in yellow so I know which are old and which are new) because I find that often when I want to use one I already have it in use holding something tasty in the fridge. Also, about 2 years ago one of the lids ripped in the dishwasher,and I lost another to the kitchen gremlins, so I don't have lids for all of the old set anymore. I don't think you're supposed to put the lids or bowls in the dishwasher, but I've been cleaning them that way for 9 years with no problems until the one lid ripped after 7 or so years of washing them that way.
The bowls are also attractive enough to use for serving during casual meals or when taking a dish to a pot-luck.
All in all a very useful and long-lasting set of bowls for both prep, presentation, and storage. Highly recommend!
