This egg topper works as advertised, but it does not seem to use a cutting wire as mentioned in the description.Rather, the spring-loaded plunger merely creates a circular crack at the end of the egg.The end of the egg can then be lifted cleanly with a knife or spoon, giving a very professional presentation.

One star off due to the very high price, but the device is quite useful to fans of soft-boiled eggs.
