Le Creuset Iron Handle Skillet - Black, Chestnut, Dune, Red Review

Like others, I bought this pan after the New York Times review came out on alternatives to teflon (the review said that this pan was terrific).My husband and I eat omelets for dinner several nights a week and our teflon pans were starting to lose their nonstick properties.This pan can work well for cooking eggs. The trick, as others have noted, is to preheat the pan on low to medium heat and then to give it a light coat of oil before adding anything to it.The day I received the pan I made a 5-egg omelet and it came out well -- I was easily able to flip the whole thing without it breaking.I've also made over-easy eggs and they have come out well too.I like this pan better than my old teflon ones because it's less delicate, it's dishwasher-safe, and I don't need to worry about the coating losing its effectiveness.Plus, it produces food with a nice surface, which teflon has a hard time doing.It is not quite as nonstick as a teflon pan, but it gets the job done (and is much more nonstick than stainless).I'm pleased with the purchase.

Lodge Cast-ton Slice Wedge Pan for Scones and Cornbread Review

I really like this cast iron skillet.. I make corn bread in mine, I like the wedges.. The pan is very heavy, but it's cast iron, so that should be expected.. Remember that if You have weak wrists or arthritis, other wise it's Great.. doesn't stick, I spray it with a little pam just in case..

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 8-Inch Open Skillet Review

I bought a set of these Cuisinarts about 9 months ago. This skillet was included in the set, as well as a smaller one and several pots.

Pros:
Excellent heat conduction. Stays hot, cooks evenly and transfer from oven to stovetop and back is very convenient.

Cons:
The nonstick coating is not really working anymore. Though these have never been in the dishwasher or been scrubbed with anything heavier than a sponge, the nonstick coating has slowly burned off in patches, and now, though it hasn't peeled or flaked, there are spots where the food will stick and nonstick spray or oil must be used. This is a pity because I was very careful not to overheat the pans--they have really been babied. I will probably buy another Cuisinart though, but this pan will need to be replaced within a few months.

First, the induction complaint is ridiculous, like whining because your 110v AC appliance won't plug in to your 12v DC cigarette lighter.All-Clad represents this limitation very clearly, I'm sure the reviewer (who did not read the labels) could quickly sell this pan for near retail because it is so well made that it will last a lifetine with proper care.The nonstick finish is quite durable, the pan heats absolutely evenly, and the handle never gets hot.The pan is well balanced and perfect for flipping omlettes or anything else.The design conserves energy as it distributes heat so efficiently that you never need turn your heat setting past medium to achieve high heat - this does take some getting used to.Very responsive pan and a pleasure to cook with,superior fit and finish.The 10" size is perfect for a couple's everyday needs and for omlettes.It is the pan we use the most in our kitchen and the last one I would surrender, but a larger family might consider the 12" version.Price is high, but its made to last a lifetime and performance is unmatched.We got ours as a wedding gift and I'd recommend it as the perfect gift for a couple with a passion for cooking.If you're going to buy one pan make it this one.

Presto 06620 11-Inch Electric Skillet Review

I've been using this pan on a daily basis for about two weeks now and I can say it has met all my demands of it. Eggs and bacon are cooked to perfection without burning either. It heats up quickly, and low temperature works for most foods. I like the fact that the heat is contained in the pan and doesn't heat up the room like gas or electric stove top burners do. The lid is deep enough to allow you to cook a small chicken or roast. The last test I wanted to do was fry pancakes as one reviewer said it wouldn't get hot enough to do it. Well, I was amazed at how well it did fry pancakes. Using thin batter was better than thick, but it fried either one to a golden brown. As far as I'm concerned this is a top quality product and will do anything you require of it. The temperature control is in degrees instead of warm medium and high as some of the others I've looked at. That feature came in handy with the pancakes as the instructions were to preheat to 375 degrees. Well, that's what I did and it was perfect. Cleanup is a breeze because of the non-stick surface, and the entire pan can be immersed in water with no harm or danger. I can't imagine what else I would want it to do. I would highly recommend this product and will buy it again if it fails after a reasonable amount of time.

Update, October 2008. After two months of non stop use, some of the non-stick surface is starting to bubble. Read the warnings carefully, it tells you to not let it soak in water. I didn't let it soak, but I let food stand in it sometimes overnight. I've stopped doing that, and there is no more deterioration of the surface. I will still rate it highly, and be more careful in the future. I guess I just didn't think a non-stick surface could be harmed by food sitting on it over night.Live and learn I guess.

Update. December 2008. Well last week I scraped off the rest of the "non-stick" coating. I was worried that if I didn't I would be eating it. It started coming off in large pieces a few weeks ago. So, the coating is not very good. I have several non-stick pans and pots that are many years old but still have the non-stick surface intact. Still, the electric skillet works good, but you have to use oil or spray when cooking or it will stick to the pan. Beware, the non-stick stuff they use is NOT what you are used to seeing in a pan. Still use it almost daily though:)

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick Stir Fry, 10" Review

Like most Calphalon products this one also delivers. It is a very nice pan for making stir fry for two. The only drawback I can see is the fact it is not dishwasher safe. I hope Calphalon begins to offer their LTD2 line outside of Williams-Sonoma-- it is dishwasher safe.

T-Fal 5-qt. Jumbo Cooker - Gray Review

This is an excellent universal pan. Great for one pan meals. Easy cleanup. Uses low to medium heat for perfect results. I highly reccomend this pan to anyone who loves to cook with easy cleanup.
