Presto 4-Quart Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker Review

This is an excellent pressure cooker. I also have the 8-quart stainless steel model by Presto and I don't like that one as much as this one. I like the little rocker on top better because I know exactly how much pressure it has. It is super easy to carry this extremely lightweight pressure cooker to the sink, run water over it, and in 5-10 seconds the pressure is down! It is not heavy or hot. You just have to be careful when you do this. I actually prefer this method of quick cooling to the method used in the 8-quart, which is to open the little weight and let the steam shoot out the top. That method takes about a minute, plus there's steam all over the place. That seems more dangerous to me than going to the sink.

This model is a smaller version of the 6-quart, so if you think this one is too small, that one would work for a family. This size is just right for one or two people. I always make very small quantities of food in it anyway as I don't like to have a lot of leftovers.

Cleanup with this product is very fast and easy as it is so lightweight. Another nice thing is that replacement parts are very easy to obtain (rubber gasket and overpressure plug).

I highly recommend this pressure cooker and the 6-quart stainless steel model as well.

HAWKINS STAINLESS STEEL 4 LITERS PRESSURE COOKER Review

I bought one of these after seeing a friend use his all the time. He grew up in India, where these cookers are made. I researched the sizes and got the 4-liter one even though I thought it would be one too large for most of my needs. (The smaller ones are aluminum). The stainless one has a very heavy bottom, which makes it great to fry onions and tomatoes up before adding other ingredients and putting on the pressure. Also it makes a great heavy stainless pot even if you do not need to pressure cook. It ended up to be a great size for making soup, stews and meals for two to four (depending on meal). You cannot fill these cookers to the top, so get a bigger size than you would in other pots. The pressure cooker is such a great way to cook beans and rice dishes fast. Very economical in saving fuel and energy, and the results are great. There is an Indian cookbook and instructions included in case you have not used one before.

Hawkins 10 Liter Stainless Steel Cooker Review

I actually have the 6 liter or 6.5 quart stainless steel version of this pressure cooker, which is no longer listed for some reason.I narrowed my choices down to the Hawkins and the Kuhn Rikon brands, since they had the best reviews with the least negatives like usability and durability problems.I've had a number of medium quality pressure cookers in the past that failed from falling apart or wearing out their o-ring seals every year, so I wanted a quality one this time.The Kuhn Rikon was about $200, so I bought the Hawkins, which I am happy with.

It's very popular in India, probably because it lasts forever and it's very energy efficient.Once it reaches full pressure I drop the heat from 10 down to a 3.It also uses almost no water, so you can use a minimum of liquid without it going dry on you. It is also safe in case of overpressure.If you do mess up and blow it up, it will release pressure below the handle, so you won't get injured or make a mess of your ceiling.It is very easy/convenient to use and it has a five year warranty, which you aren't likely to use.It appears very rugged.It has a thick completely flat bottom for even cooking on any cooking surface including flat top electric stoves.

There are some potential negatives.It does have a very narrow diameter for it's size because it is tall and narrow.It also has a lip at the top that reduces the usable width and bowls you can insert for cooking to 6.5 inches wide on my 6 liter cooker.I have a small pyrex bowl that fits perfectly for very modest size portions.If you expect to use larger bowls, you'll be disappointed.You also lose a few inches of volume at the top because you have to insert the lid at a steep angle inside the top before seating it underneath the top lip by design.You shouldn't be filling the pressure cooker more than 2/3 full anyway for safety reasons on any pressure cooker, though.You won't have much luck ordering special parts or inserts.The USA Hawkins support doesn't know anything about it.You'll have to go through India.The top lip does make it impossible to completely dry out by hanging upside down, but you can just shake it a little to get most of the water out and let the rest evaporate in the cupboard.There was a big hole in the box it arrived in but the pressure cooker was undamaged.The book manual is very cheaply made and some pages fell out of it immediately upon first opening but these complaints are minor.

I'm very happy with it since I was looking for an easy to use and very reliable stainless steel pressure cooker without paying a fortune.

We received the Magefesa Star R 10 Quart Pressure Cooker very quickly. This has to be the best pressure cooker on the market and at the best price too. It has a heavy bottom and is built safe and solid. This is our second and larger Magefesa pressure cooker and we couldn't be happier with them both. The 10 quart size allows cooking with alot of ingrediants and for more people and is a nice versital size cooker.

Fagor Duo Stainless-Steel 4-Quart Pressure Cooker Review

I LOVE this cooker!!!It saves me time, work, money, nutrients, cooks 3-10 times faster. You can put food in even if not defrosted [although microwaves help that issue]. They make the best stews, soups, sweet and sour ribs, chili, puddings, cheese cakes etc. You can buy a really inexpensive cut of meat, put in your spices, some water and wine, and in less than 20 minutes it is fork tender. Whenever I have a recipe that calls for cooked chicken [like enchiladas], I buy the less expensive whole chicken, put it in the cooker and in 15-20 minutes it is falling-off-the-bone tender.
This one comes with a double locking system and two levels of pressure; one for veggies and grains; the other for more dense foods like dry beans, meats or squash.I would never be without one again.I'm going to order the companion 6 quart that Fagor makes for those larger meats and veggies!

Love, love my pressure cooker! Cooks well and fast. Compatible with induction cooktop. Easy to wash. This size is for a small family. If your family is larger than three, you are better off with the 8-quart size. Instruction booklet is easy to read, really. Definitely worth every penny. Made in Spain.

KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions Stainless-Steel 4-3/4-Quart Covered Saute Pan with Helper Handle Review

My wife and I purchased this a few weeks ago to replace a similar pan that was teflon coated. We were concerned about the difficulty of cleaning it well, but it is great. We love how evenly it cooks and heats quickly. It is very easy to clean after a quick soak. I highly recommend it and would buy this pan again if I had it to do over.
