NEW 20-QUART HEAVY-GAUGE STAINLESS STEEL (18/10) STOCK POT W/ GLASS LID COVER Review

NEW 20-QUART HEAVY-GAUGE STAINLESS STEEL STOCK POT W/ GLASS LID COVERI was a bit nervous ordering in this price range, and I'm sure there are better quality pots out there to be found, but this is a real steal.
Nice looking, even-heating, and looks good on the stove. I've found myself more willing to make larger dishes and store for later now that I can keep it to one pot, too.
I'm *quite* pleased with my purchase.

Calphalon One Infused Anodized 8-Quart Stockpot with Lid Review

Calphalon One Infused Anodized 8-Quart Stockpot with LidI have had my set of Caphalon One pans for 5 years now and they are still in great condition. i bought the stockpot separately.I have gotten my moneys worth like no other pans I have owned. The anodized aluminum transfers heat fast and evenly. The ergonomic handle that usually does not get hot on the stove top, depending on how you use it. They sell many separate piece to go with these, my favorites are the chef's dutch oven in the 7 quart, and the big pan that has the built in strainer.

The non-stick surface is very hard and effective, and so easy to clean. If you have a big mess, just let some hot water sit in it for a few minutes and they just wipe clean. Be careful what scrubbers you use so you do not scratch it, I use a nylon brush to wipe the goop out in the sink. The corners inside are rounded so that food does not get suck in them. If you do get some stuck food or burn something, do not use scouring powder, only Bar Keepers Friend powder can scrub without scratching. It is not dishwasher safe, and do not use metal utensils either. Follow these steps and they will last forever.

Imusa Stainless Steel Stock Pot, 12 Quart Review

Imusa Stainless Steel Stock Pot, 12 QuartThis pot is very light weight. The metal is so thin that I am able to dent the sides, bottom, or lid with my hands. But it was cheap. Also, there was a large sticker covering one side. It took ages to remove the sticker and the glue.

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Steel 12 Quart Stockpot Review

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Steel 12 Quart StockpotThis is as expected from Calphalon. Thick walls and bottom for cooking without scorching and for keeping things warm. I should have paid closer attention though. After looking at a bunch of stockpots I ordered a size smaller than I wanted.

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 6-1/2-Quart Soup Pot Review

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 6-1/2-Quart Soup PotHere is the letter I wrote to these folks today. I feel others should know that acidic foods will cause the nonstick surface on these pots to disintegrate so that you are cooking on exposed ALUMINUM. Not good. My letter:

I called several years ago because the nonstick cookware 6-1/2 qt. saucepan my husband had bought for me a year previous had lost it's "coating" on the bottom and was becoming badly pitted on the sides. I do not use abrasive cleaners. I thought something was wrong with the pot.

Your helpful customer service rep asked me what I cooked in the pot. I told her that I made spaghetti sauce with tomatoes, onions, beef, etc.

She told me what this pot was therefore exempt from warranty because I should never use it for high-acid foods, like tomatoes.

I took her word for it and still have the pot but only use it to boil water.

Today I took the time to read over your website and your instructions and disclaimers for your nonstick cookware. Not only is there no warning about cooking high-acid food in the cookware, you have a PHOTO of a pot just like mine containing a big batch of spaghetti sauce. Some nice tomatoes are sitting on the side. I saved that photo for future reference.

My husband can't even remember what he paid for the pot but said "a lot" and we never bought any more since we figured it would not hold up to tomatoes, one of our favorite foods to cook. I use cast iron and stainless steel now.

Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless-Steel 8-Quart Stockpot with Glass Lid Review

Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless-Steel 8-Quart Stockpot with Glass LidThis is a great stockpot. I had "borrowed" my mother-in-law's 6qt Wolfgang Puck Tri-Ply for several years and finally decided to return it. After using her tri-ply for so long, I knew I didn't want to go back to any other material. I was nervous about not finding one in my price range (AllClad for example is way too much for my modest income). When I saw this on Amazon for such a great price, I was concerened that the 8qt would be too big for my little kitchen. Since I couldn't find anything comparable, I went ahead and ordered it. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised that it isn't much bigger than the 6qt Wolfgang.

The glass lid is fun because I can watch my stuff cook without lifting the lid. The handles stick out enough so that I don't burn my knuckels. They are also strategically placed to balance the weight, empty or full. I didn't notice that on the Wolfgang model.

In anycase, I have fried bits of meat on the bottom and then added liquid for soups and sauces. I have added cold stuff to hot and not had a problem with loosing heat.

This is a sturdy pot. The stainless steel is thick and it easy is to clean. It heats quickly when your hungry and can simmer sauce for hours without complaining.

If you are looking for a stockpot (especially for spaghetti sauce), go with the Calphalon - you can saute tomatoes on the bottom without any concerns.

The pot is oven- and broiler-safe up to 700 degrees F, and the lid can withstand temperatures up to 450 degrees F. Dishwashers safely clean the cookware, but over time can dull surfaces; hand washing is the best option to preserve the polished shine. Circulon Infinite Circulon 7-Quart Covered Locking Straining Stockpot Review

Circulon Infinite Circulon 7-Quart Covered Locking Straining StockpotI have two smaller Circulon straining pots, from the "Circulon 2" family. I use them every day, literally, but always have to be mindful of the lids as they do not properly lock. I discovered this the first day, when I dumped my spaghetti into the sink while attempting to strain it. After that, I wore an oven glove to hold the lid on (Circulon recommended not tipping that pot more than 45 degrees to strain, which was ridiculous - that seemed like an afterthought meant to cover their butts. That would've left half the water in the pot, which would have defeated the purpose of having a straining saucepan!).

With this pot, you don't have to do that. It locks the way it's supposed to. The pot feels sturdy enough, though I expected the lid to be "heavier". It doesn't need to be, though. It works beautifully the way it is and is not flimsy in any way.

The pot is a good size for family-sized pasta meals, and is so much easier to use and less awkward than pasta pots that come with the insert. And it's so much better than having a colander sit in the sink and dumping the whole pot into it, which allows the dirty water in the drain to back up into the sink and make contact with the pasta. Yuk.

This pot is also great for cooking quantities of sauce, too. The lid allows the steam to vent without splatter going everywhere.

I use this pot for much more than pasta and sauce, however.

It's great for cooking up a pot of soup in the winter, which is something I do a lot, or a pot of beans. And it's fantastic for making rice pudding on the stovetop because it's non-stick. You can use it for virtually anything. If you don't need venting for a particular dish, lay a piece of foil across the top before setting the lid on top.

I was so impressed with this pot, I bought one for each of my three daughters!
