Once I got a set of pots that included a "saucier" and I fell in love with the concept of the gently sloping sides. This canister is just lovely. I chose it because it was white and would go with all of my kitchen decor. I actually bought 3 in this size because I've never been a fan of the canister sets with different sizes. I know they all look alike but I'll figure out how to remember what is in each one. While comparing canisters I wanted to purchase ones that were heavier such as Fiesta Ware. These were listed as being earthenware. I wasn't sure what that meant. I guess it just means ceramic. I was a little disappointed in the weight and quality. I thought they would be more like stoneware. I'm hoping they don't get chipped as they are light weight. I got them at a very reasonable price though, and feel they are worth what I paid. I am curious about the dinnerware that matches this canister. I would think it would be made of a higher quality or it would not be practical.

This is essentially the All-Clad stainless steel 3 quart saucier fitted with 2 short handles.The "dutch oven" sold by All-Clad is a similar configuration of the 5 1/2 quart saucier.

I have hoped to find a true competitor to Le Creuset for years, one that was more affordable and of the same quality.Staub fills the bill, and fills it with style.This cocotte is large enough to accomodate a good-sized chicken, and is perfect for slow-cooked stews and braises.The interior coating is easy to clean and effectively non-stick.While its weight may be a deterrent for some, it is so attractive that it can be left on the stovetop or on a counter for easy access.It is my best purchase of the year and I look forward to using it for years to come.

I can find nothing to take to task on the All-Clad tools.I have nearly all the tools they make and I like them all.They are easy to clean, no nooks for stuff to get stuck.They fit well in the hand and have a substantial, but not heavy, feel to them.Their shape is very good for the task at hand.The sole negative is their price but when balanced against the good, including the fact that they should last longer than the cook, they are a bargain at the price.
I originally was just looking to buy a set of the paring knives. They fit nicely in my hands and are pretty light. They don't slip when my hands are wet. They are very sharp and have stayed that way for quite some time now. (My daughter got me a set either one or two years ago for Christmas and two have gone missing, so I needed to replace them.)
