Cooldaddy Electric Deep Fryer Review

Well, I've used my CoolDaddy for the first time and the food turned out great!Fry time was great.The basket worked like it was supposed to.It had easy cleanup.However, I've read the other reviews and nobody mentions that the CoolDaddy is not Cool at all.I accidentally touched the outside housing while frying my food and burned my fingers!Now, while there are no blisters to be had, my fingers were sore for a minute or so after I touched it.So buyer beware, if you are looking for a real "cool touch" deep fryer just as this Presto COOLDaddy boasts, you will be disappointed.I must say though, that it is cooler than the regular non cool touch deep fryers. So other than that, everything is great!

T-Fal FR4015002 3-Liter Family Pro Deep-Immersion Fryer Review

I like it. Sturdy, unlike my older, cheaper deep fryer, which had anunstable feel to it. Timer is helpful--prevents leaving it on accidentally. Basket is larger than most, so items like FF can be spread out and fry quicker. Only downside is that this model is a little bulky (its squarer than most), especially if you live in a place with limited storage.And there's no real place in/on the unit to store the detachable cord.But this one looks like it will last a long time, and I'm glad I bought it..

Hamilton Beach 33141 4-Quart Oval Slow Cooker Review

I bought this cooker seven months ago, and really liked it.It's quite handsome, and I have no complaints about how it works.I've made many fine meals in it.Sadly, the knob broke a few weeks or a month ago.I glued it back together, but today it broke apart again.I don't think it will take a second gluing any better than the first, so now if I want to use it I have to use pliers or something, and I have to count clicks--which are not as distinct as I'd like--to know quite which setting it's on.

Such a shame this otherwise great cooker is now incredibly difficult to use because of such a "small" detail!

This was my first full size slow cooker (I have a 1.5 qt one too) and I've learned a couple of things I'll share for people looking for their first.The 4 quart size has been really good.I first bought it when I was living alone, so I'd have lots of leftovers, which I love.Now I live with my boyfriend, and the size is still good--we usually have enough left over for one or both of us to have lunch of it the next day.The oval shape has worked out well also; it's possible to fit larger things in it than I'd be able to in a round cooker of the same volume.

My next one, though, will be programmable.I'd thought the feature was silly, because you can only go from high to warm or low to warm, not high to low, or high to low to warm.Now that I have some experience using it, I see that the ability to switch to warm automatically at a certain time would be immensely useful, for those times when a recipe calls for 6 hours on low, but you'll be away from home for 8 hours.

Tiger America 5.5 c. Electr Rice Cooker/Warm ( JAZ-A10U ) Review

I really like brown rice so it was important for me to do ANYTHING to get a cooker to work, especially one that was smaller.

I started out with white basmati because I wanted to "give the cooker a chance" assuming it would find it easier to cook white rice. I got rice mush instead.

I tried long grain brown rice which I had soaked all day. I got brown rice mush.

I called Tiger and was told that white Basmati requires less water than other rices, and that this cooker would not cook brown rice. Well I haven't tried white basmati again yet, but I have cooked short grain brown rice several times and really like it. The trick is to soak the rice for 2 to 4 hours in advance of cooking. I like my rice a little chewy so I soak for 2 to 3 hours. Long grain brown rice is best soaked for 4 hours ahead of time.

WITH ALL RICE, MAKE SURE TO RINSE IT THOROUGHLY BEFORE COOKING.

I also like that I can make 3 cups instead of 6. Left over rice is great for breakfast with some butter, sugar and dried cherries, but you should eat the rice within a week. It will taste funny after a week in the refrigerator.

I was formerly a professional cook.I worked in restaurants and catering for 17 years.A person gets spoiled cooking with good equipment at work.It can be disappointing to go home and try to cook with standard household equipment, both in efficiency and results.I try to buy the best kitchen equipment I can afford.

When I chose this fryer, I deliberated for days.When it arrived and I examined the device, I was pretty sure I had chosen wisely.The heating elements and mechanisms reminded me of a small scale restaurant quality fryer.

One side note, frying in your home will make your home smell like KFC or Long John Silvers, depending on what you are frying.It will linger for days.I use it outside on the deck to avoid this problem.

Black & Decker G48TD Grill and Waffle Baker Review

I love this waffle maker!It's like the ones our mom used, not those cheesy seeming plastic things they're making now.It's also got a lot of excellent features that make my life easier.
I'll mention right now that this is a VERY hot waffle maker.They make the plastic ones to be "cool touch".I'll trade the cool touch feature for the sturdier design of this versatile machine. I'm being careful and haven't burned myself yet. But it's something to consider if you'd like your children making waffles.My ten year old could be careful enough, but I keep my five and eight year olds away.
The waffles this machine makes are great!They freeze well too.The family is very happy. When the light goes of the unit is ready to make waffles. Pour in the batter and the light comes on again--wait for it to go off and the waffle is done (however, I usually go on instinct and sometimes pull out the waffle before the light goes off.)
The open grill feature makes wonderful pancakes and fried eggs.I have a big family and it's nice to have two pancakes cook at a shot without taking up all my stovetop!I can have bacon and eggs on the stove and the pancakes on the waffle maker.(I can also have a heart attack if I keep eating all these bacon and eggs!)
The sandwich feature is nice.I can cook two grilled cheese sandwiches at one time getting me out of the kitchen quicker.Some advice--cheese might drip out the side of the sandwich.Just keep the sandwich away from the back of the unit where the cables run in and the mess just wipes off--no problem.The sandwiches cook far more uniformly than they do in a pan on the stove.They taste great.
This unit cleans up easily and changing the grills from waffle to flat is easy.I recommend it over a lot of more costly models if you want more value for your money.This is the most versatile waffle maker I've found and all the features actually work!

Broil King PCR-1B Professional Cast Iron Range, Black Review

I bought the Toastmaster Eclipse burner and replaced it every year since something always went wrong.

This burner is a marvel.The heat control is incredibly precise, from just keeping something tepid or warm to full-blown raging heat.

Do not hesitate.

Update on April 22:

I am now far less enthusiastic:

1.The cast iron top is NOT (reapeat NOT) easy to clean.It is so abrasive it will eat up sponges, paper towels and every thing else.
2.The cast iron top stains very easily...with no hope of reducing the stain.
3.Do not expect to change temperatures cooking on this top.The cast iron retains heat for a VERY long time.Trying to move from one temperature to another takes very many minutes...from high to low as much as 45 minutes.
