Corelle Livingware Memphis 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 Review

If it was just the picture on the website, I might think it was just my computer screen.However, the box also shows a very bright blue mug and the colors in the plate too.When the box is opened, I found a lighter blue...not primary bright blue, more like a Williamsburg Blue.It is still pretty but not what I really wanted.The other colors are the same way...pictured as very bright but muted out of the box.

Another deceptive thing to note on the picture.It appears that the smaller plate is almost as big as the dinner plate.It is described as a salad plate...it is a bread and butter sized plate.I am not impressed with that.That being said the detailed description does state the correct dimensions of that plate.In a typical family-style dinner I really have no use for it.I would like a larger salad plate that is just the right size for the kids.

As others posted, I too wish the Memphis pattern would also be on the other complementary tableware.Lighter color issues aside I do like the pattern.I would only suggest that when one makes a purchase you realize the picture is only slightly deceptive.

I do like the Corelle name of products.With my kids learning how to set a table, I need something a little more durable.This will do nicely until they are old enough to be able to deal with china.

Calphalon Classic Bakeware 24-Cup Nonstick Mini Muffin Pan Review

I have been baking off and on for years now, and I had yet to find a muffin pan that I was really satisfied with until now!
I used my new mini muffin pan for the first time this weekend (8/6/05), and it was awesome!I did not have to spray it with non-stick spray and I did not have to wash it, other than to wipe it clean with a damp cloth!The muffins cooked perfectly, browning evenly, and popped right out of the pan!I would totally recommend Calphalon's Mini Muffin Pan!By the way their cookie sheets are great too!

Metrokane Velvet Corkscrew, Black Review

I love this corkscrew, it works very well. After having used the waiter type for years, this is a fantastic change. Having the foil-cutter built in is a big plus, I don't have to fumble around with a piece on the end like with the waiter or have a seperate piece to keep track of, and it does the job just fine.

It's much simpler and smaller (saves space and is more transportable) than the lever type, which I've also used. And, in my opinion, is more efficient and easier to use. I've also heard complaints that they tend to get more difficult to use over time.

I can't stand the "winged" type either, they are such a pain. The problems that I had with the waiter or winged types were getting them started and making sure that the screw went in staight, having it slip while pulling,or struggling to get a stubborn cork out. I've also had the worm (screw) loosen or break over time with the waiter corkscews. These are not a problems anymore.

It may be more expensive than the more basic types, which may be the way to go if you only open a bottle once a month or less. But it is so worth it if you are opening a bottle a week or more. Every time I use it I'm am amazed by how easily the cork comes out. Looks like this tool will be around in my home for a long time.

Yamazaki Hospitality-Austen Extra Large Serving Spoon Review

I've been looking for a long time for a nice, flat serving spoon and was delighted to find this gem! I've used smaller, deep serving spoons in the past but when you're serving casseroles and other dishes that require a "heaping" serving, this spoon can't be beat! The spoon is nice and wide, and more importantly, nice and flat. If anything, it resembles and ice cream paddle but is "dressier" and more appropriate for the dinner table. A+++++++ on this one.

I love this muffin pan.I have used others that rusted in a short time.This pan is not too dark or too light, so you get perfectly even browning.It is heavy duty instead of thin.The dark pans will brown things too fast, sometimes almost burning them.Shiny pans hardly brown at all.This is the best muffin pan I've ever used and I have been baking muffins for years.
