Nordic Ware Platinum Collection Train Pan Review

I used this pan to make a cake for my grandson's birthday party. I did two practice runs on using the pan. A regular cake mix will work as well as the recipe that is printed on the underside of the label. I followed the instructions to fill the pan only 3/4 full but with a cake mix, I found this to be too much. Each section has a horizontal line as part of the design for each train car. Fill only to the top of this line so the cakes will be the right height. It is important to follow the instruction to hit the pan firmly on your countertop before placing the batter in the oven - this will eliminate any air bubbles trapped in the cake.When the cake sections are baked, wait 10-15 minutes then turn them out GENTLY onto a wire frame. DO NOT TAP THE BOTTOM OF THE SECTIONS before turning the cakes out since they will come out with some of the design missing.
However, this cake pan works beautifully. I found that a soft paint brush worked very well with hot soapy water when washing the sections out.

Lekue Silicone 9-Inch Cake Pan Review

I don't know why, but I held out from buying silicone pans until recently. Then I purchased a specialty pan and was hooked! The cake pan fits nicely in my GE Advantium oven so I don't need to heat up the entire kitchen. The baked goods come out extra moist and the clean-up is a breeze.

Nordic Ware Pineapple Upside Down Cake Pan Review

As some of the reviews below reveal, this cake pan was manufactured to be used for the traditional pineapple upside down cake.it performs as intended when you use a standard store-bought mix or common recipe for upisde down cake.If you get all experimntal and use heavier flours with far more protein content, you cake is gonna stick.if you must use a custom low-carb recipe, you are better off making your cake in a rectangle pan.

Nordicware usually includes a basic recipe with all their pans and mine came with it.it is sometimes on the reverse of the label so don't toss the label without looking.If you need a basic recipe, there is a very good one in the betty Crocker cookbook.

Another way to avoid sticking is to grease your Nordicware pan with crisco and then spray with baker's joy.Your cake should release easily then.

Remember, these pans were not designed for high protein cakes.use your rectangle pans for those.I am always amazed at how people blame a manufacturer for not anticipating their non-standard use of their products.The pan works fine.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Nonstick Bakeware 9-Inch Tube Cake Pan Review

When I ordered this item it did NOT list that it had a removeable center peice. I was looking for a solid one peice to bake pound cakes in. The 2 peice does leak a bit, but is DOES NOT stick. NOTE: do not use spray pam on this item EVER as it will build a sticky film. I say just let others know it is NOT a solid pan.

This pan makes such a pretty cake you can't believe it's homemade.It looks like something from a bakery.Not only does it make a beautiful cake but it's easy to remove (as long as you grease the pan well).It's also a heavy weight pan so it should last forever if you take care of it.Cleaning it was a breeze, just some warm soapy water and a sponge and it's clean.Nordicwaremakes great bakeware!!

Nordic Ware Platinum Collection Pumpkin Patch Pan Review

What is the primary difference between this pan and a basic mini-bundt pan? The picture doesn't do the pan justice. Some of the pumpkins are a little narrower and taller and some are a bit squatty. There are leaves and tendrils embossed on the pumpkins -- all differences from the standard mini-bundt pan.

You get what you pay for, and the quality of this pans is worth the money, and properly cared for, it will last a lifetime. For perfect unmolding every time -- although the pan is non-stick, it needs to be properly prepared -- and that is most easily accomplished by using either Wilton's cake release or a cooking spray designed for baking (one that contains flour.)

To ensure a perfect unmolding, let the cake cool upright for ten minutes after removing it from the oven before inverting it. Too soon and the cakes will be fragile and may fall apart, longer than 10 minutes and the cakes begin to adhere to the pan and may stick. And, as with all non-stick surface pans, never use metal utensils or harsh scouring pads on the pan.

Dense batters work best because coarse batters (lots of air and little fat) have lots of bubbles which reduce the amount of detail reflected in the finished cake. There are many recipes for pound cakes and bundt cakes that will work perfectly with this pan, along with the recipe included with the pan from Nordic Ware. Give the pan a good rap on the counter before putting it in the oven to release any trapped air bubbles. The cakes produced are intricate and highly detailed. It looks like much effort was expended. These pumpkin cakes will add a lovely touch to a Thanksgiving buffet or a Halloween themed party.
