Berndes Tradition 3-Quart Saucepan Review

Berndes non-stick cast aluminum cookware is my favorite in the non-stick category. It is lightweight and has a durable surface. I have several of these pans and they have outlasted my "Scanpans" and some commercial non-stick pans thay I have owned. Berndes also makes these pans with a different handle if one wishes to use them in the oven. I recently purchased a "Swiss Diamond" fry pan and it looks as if it may be comparable to the Berndes. I'll have to see how long its non-stick surface lasts.

Revere Polished Aluminum 3-Quart Nonstick Saucepan Review

Currently, the product page here at Amazon says "Tight fitting covers seal in flavors", which sounds to me like it's supposed to come with a lid, and it doesn't.It's a great pan, nevertheless.I love the 3-quart size.One thing that's a little annoying about it, but I'm not sure it could be changed, is, it has no lip whatsoever and the metal is fairly thick so it pours horribly.I occasionally make tea for ice tea in it, and you have to dip out the tea with another cup until the pan is at least less than one-half full. If you try to pour liquid out of the pan with the pan about a half full or more, it will invariably run down the side of the pan and make a mess, no matter how hard you try to be careful. Still, a good, solid cooking pan.

When I ordered this saucepan, I didn't realize how high the quality would be.When I opened the box and first lifted the saucepan, I was immediately impressed with the weight and quality.Each time that I use this pan to heat up foods, I am constantly surprised at how much less time it takes for those foods to cook.Water boils very quickly.Lastly, the engraved measuring lines for liquids areextremely helpful.All in all, the best saucepan that I've owned.

Farberware Classic Series 2-Quart Saucepan with Double Boiler Insert and Lid Review

This set has come in handy many times in the kitchen.The pots can be used together or separately as a double boiler, although the bottom on the smaller one is not very thick.They are good for making sauces but if you make large quantities, you should get a larger double boiler.

Granite Ware 1- and 2-Quart Saucepan Set Review

I have now been using one or both of these pans on a daily basis for almost a year. They are easy to clean and the finish has not chipped (I usually use bamboo or wooden utensils to stir), even though I have gone shopping and seen similar pots on sale unused with chips. I do use a "flame tamer" when making rice or things that are thick such as chili so that the food on the bottom doesn't brown or burn--the pans are one thickness and get too hot on the bottom without the flame tamer. But the pans are fine usedalone whenI cooking soups or vegetables. These pans provide an economical and useful tool for those who want to avoid using aluminum or even stainless steel pots, which is why I switched. They come without lids, but I prefer Corning glass lids and have them already in sizes that fit the pans. I also bought a larger one of these graniteware pots; it came with a matching lid, but I prefer to use the glass one instead.

Simply Calphalon Stainless 2 Quart Saucepan Review

I purchased this pan to replace an older one of the same size. My main uses are steaming rice, cooking ramen noodles, heating frozen spinach, etc. The build quality of the pan is excellent, very heavy base and the silicone handle is a nice touch (although it should extend a bit farther down the handle). However, the lid is what bothers me. The rivets that hold the handle on are sandwiched between some type of silicone glue, but on my pan the glue was squished out and I could pick at it with my fingers. Not what I would expect from a 'name brand' pot. I ended up taking an x-acto knife and cutting it all away for fear of it coming lose in my food. Not a huge deal, but it worth noting.

Pros:
Nice quality polished stainless
Great looking pot
Silicone insulation is nice
Heavy weight, thick base

Cons:
Poor quality construction on the lid
Insulation could be more expansive on the handle

If the two cons were out of the picture, this would be a 5-star pot. Would I purchase another one? Probably.
