Marcus Tri-Ply Stainless-Steel 8-Inch Open Skillet Review

Very well made open fry pan. The aluminum core goes all the way up the side, no hot spots. Heavier than it looks. No idea who Marcus is but $30 for a Clad fry pan that's made in the USA was worth the risk. Love the handle. Package says it's broiler safe. Won't be putting an 8" fry pan under the broiler but I might with the 12" fry pan once I buy it. No mention of the type of stainless on the package, but the magnet sticks to the interior so it's 18/10. Clean up is nice so I'm assuming it's a pretty decent grade of 18/10 stainless (US steel anyone???). Bottom line, it's a lot of cookware for the $$$. I'm going to keep my eye on the other pieces. Not sure if they will be going on sale anytime soon (it appears this is a brand new line of cookware) but if they do I will certainly add a few.

Lodge Logic 11-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned Grill Pan Review

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this pan.At first I was skeptical and a little hesistant about cooking with cast iron.Growing up in the south I knew the magic of cast iron cornbread made with fatback, but I also knew the special care that went into seasoning the beloved pieces of cookware.When I saw that this was preseasoned I went for it.I worried that it might be a lightweight pan and only sublime quality for the price but I was pleasantly surprised.This pan has a heavy weight to it and is crafted solidly.I've used it for hamburgers (they make the best I've ever tasted), grilled chicken, pork chops, and shrimp (YUM).Something I learned is that things tend to stick a little so coating the pan with vegetable spray is a good idea.Also, try soaking your shrimp in a mixture of butter and garlic before grilling it. I am in love, it hasn't even left my kitchen counter to go into the cabinet since I bought it because I use it so much.My husband being a Yankee wasn't used to the goodness of the cast iron but now that he sees how perfectly it browns meat while still leaving it moist he is hooked.With this pan I find the grooves to be so helpful.You can season the meat without worrying about all the seasoning burning to the pan.Also they're nice and deep so that the fat that does run off actually stays off the meat.Cleaning it is SO easy!I just run hot water into the pan while it's still hot from the stove then use a sponge or dish towel (NO SOAP) to wipe it out, rinse it off, and then spray with vegetable spray while it's warm before putting it away.I have to say that Lodge has a loyal fan in me.With quality old time cookware like this, without the hassle of seasoning it first you can't go wrong.

Signature Housewares Sorrento Set of 3 Canisters Review

When I received my order, I loved the look of the canisters.They looked exactly as they did online.I was glad that the color was true to the pictures at Amazon.

However, once I stored sugar in one of my canisters, the problem with the "airtight" seal became apparent.Water got into the sugar and it hardened.The problem is that the seals are cheap.They don't seem to be made for this set.They make it difficult to seat the lid on its base properly. On the other hand, the seals come off so easily (some may say too easily) that they're easy to clean.

4 Inch Wall Bracket Review

Overall, this was an expensive purchase, but it is exactly what I needed to hang pots in my small kitchen.It is very sturdy, and having the brackets makes it possible to align the rack and the brackets, so that I can have the brackets secured in studs in the wall.If I purchased a wall unit that has fixed screw holes for the wall, my pot rack would not be securely attached and would, therefore, not be sturdy enough to accomodate any heavy pots, and possibly might come loose from the wall.I highly recommend this item. No other company but enclume seems to have anything that comes close to this degree of quality.This item is so durable, it will probalby last for years.

Marcus Samuelsson 8-Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set Review

One correction - the set comes with a 8" and 10" fry pan, not 8" and 12".For the price I paid, I'll buy a 12" fry pan and be way ahead of the game.

This cookware just oozes quality.I've been looking for some time for a set, and I've purchased a few individual pieces to try them out.This set puts them to shame.They heat evenly, they have a gorgeous finish, and they're made from heavy material.

The handles are sculpted and long.The 10" skillet has a handle that is almost 10" long.Most of the pieces have helper handles.

The set comes with a DVD that show the care and use of the set with Marcus as the chef.

The only thing I can't figure out is how to get food not to stick.I've had the same problem with other stainless steel cookware.Some people say cook on low heat, some say to make sure everything is blazing hot before putting the food in.I bought some Pam today, and it worked fine on one side of a hamburger but when I flipped it the other side stuck.At least the pans clean easily, just soak with hot water.The manufacturer even recommends a stainless steel powder like Barkeeper's Friend, as the finish is satin anyway.

The best thing about this set is the its made in the U.S.A. by Wear Ever in Wisconsin.Besides putting money back in the country, I probably don't have to worry about a factory in Szchen Szu province picking up whatever heavy metals are laying around and making a pot for me.

overall a great product but might be too small for a large family

Potobelo Italia 10 Piece Cookware Set Review

I had bought only one Potobelo 5-quart stainless steel pot a year back,have used it very often and I love it! Food cooks evenly and fast, easy to clean (dishwasher safe), no special care needed, scratch resistant heavy bottom pot with sturdy handles.
So I decided to buy a set of this cookware. I felt it was a good deal compared to T-Fal,Kitchen Aid and Cuisinart.
They come with glass lids for all the pots and 2 frying pans(without lid). All are made in good sizes which is very comfortable for a family of 2 or 4. Since it is all stainless steel and not non-stick, you should make sure to use a little oil to prevent food from burning. In my opinion, stainless steel cookware lasts longer than any non-stick cookware and needs very little care. I am so happy that I bought Potobelo cookware.It looks fabulous and I enjoy my cooking :)

Rosle 12808 Antibacterial Cleaning Brush Review

This is the best brush ever. Totally worth the money, and I thought it was very expensive for a brush ($20). I was so sick of buying a new dishbrush every 3 months because it would be gross and have food particles in it, even after a run through the dishwasher. :) It scrubs the food off your plates/pots/bowls VERY well and then the best part is the food that normally would have stuck and stayed in any of my old Walmart brushes goes down the drain as well. I cook every night and it is used very often. I have young kids who eat oatmeal and smear it everywhere...and it comes out with that brush no problem with no remaining chunks. It works great with cheese and bread dough as well, also keeping those chunks out of the brush. I have now had it for 4 months and it still looks and acts brand new. AWESOME Product!

The entire rack, including jars, is made of plastic. Yes, "chrome" means silver-painted plastic. Looks and feels very flimsy. Pouring doesn't work very well, it is easy to overdo it when you only need a pinch of finely ground herb.

KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved Cookware Sets Review

I have been using this cookware for a few weeks and I am very happy with them.We have a glass top stove and they are very flat on the bottom making for excellent heat conduction.Water boils twice as fast as the old pans we were using.

They go in the dishwasher and come out clean and shiny.We'll see how they look over time, but so far, they still look like new.The glass tops have a metal edge around to protect them.I love being able to see my food without removing the top.

The only complaint I have is that the insides stain a little bit when making tea, but it's no big deal.

Scanpan Classic Fry Pans Review

I just got one. I tried cooking an egg with no oil in it on medium heat. It stuck a little, but I could clean it off with one wipe of a paper towel. I can't do this with any other pan I own. With just a slight amount of butter (a pat cut 1/16th inch thick), I repeated the test and was able to flip the egg with ease and there was NO stcking at all. It cleaned off with just dabbing a paper towel along the surface. The outside of the pan also has non stick sides, so if you get some slop on the sides on the outside of the pan, it wipes off as well. The heat distribution was superb as evidenced by the changing pattern from clear to white of the egg white and the uniformity of browning of the egg surface. I intend to use this pan for omlettes and crepes. It exceeds any other fry / saute pan I've used.
You can use metal utensils on this pan: amazing. The handle is suppossed to be good to 500 deg F. I finally found a non stick pan I can use!
I have Le Creuset, multiple stainless, plain cast iron and several (retired) non stick (including Corning and Analon). The eggs are cleaner than from cast iron. In the Le Cruset or stainless, a soaking is required for the same test.

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 13-Piece Cookware Set Review

I've been cooking quite a bit with this set and do recommend them to the casual cook and/or the professional.

The major thing I've noticed is the amazing heat distribution of these pans. I cooked at friends house a couple weeks ago on a crappy electric range and the tuna steak we were cooking turned out perfect like I was cooking at home on my gas range.

Also a notable achievement is the easy clean up of these pans. The smooth design seemed cosmetic at first but I've been grateful for the rounded interior edges, they've saved me hours of clean up.

Great investment! Lifetime warranty is no joke either. Worth the price.

Emeril Stainless Steel Saute Pan Review

I did quite a bit of research about pan types prior to getting this one.It came highly rated from CR and [...].I've only ever owned nonstick (anodized) before this and of course as with many, the non-stick coating gives up the ghost within about 3 yr.The promise here is that stainless will last nearly as long as cast iron without all of the worries about how to clean it.As recommended, I've used only low to med-heat and only cooked foods that generate their own non-stick (meats, poultry).I've never been able to deglaze before with non-stick - this is pretty cool!Yes, if you're used to non-stick there is quite a bit more that gets stuck to the bottom of the pan (but I've been pretty good about letting it preheat 5 min before putting anything in).But, if you follow the included cleaning instructions (although they appear to be generically written, not just for stainless) it comes mostly clean.I can always make out where the meat was sitting.Then I toss a little barkeeper's friend in there, and BAM (sorry Emeril!) as good as new. Plus, I can cut food up while it's in the pan... try that with non-stick!I've only had it about a month and noted a little discoloration on the bit of copper that is visible on the bottom.But I'm not too worried about discoloration, just performance, and it works great.Of course, if it still works a year from now, I'll get back on here and put another review in.

Progressive International Microwavable Breakfast Sandwich Maker Review

First of all, the sandwich I just made was super delicious -- second to no chain restaurant's breakfast sandwich. I didn't really know how to make the sandwich because I had never microwaved eggs or bacon. So, I guessed that 2 minutes would be a good amount of time. Turned out perfect. Clean up was much easier than other reviews say. I always clean up before I eat so the bacon juice hadn't solidified -- maybe that's why.

I highly recommend this product to someone looking to start the day right without going to a fatty fast food restaurant like McDonald's. You'll feel great about making your own breakfast, you'll save money, and you'll consume less calories. It's a no-brainer.

Below is how I made my sandwich. I didn't notice many people sharing their routine so I will...

1. Whisked 1 large egg, pepper, salt, and fat free milk
2. Put 1.5 pieces of bacon on top of a paper towel in the sandwich maker
3. Poured the whisked egg into one egg compartment
4. Set the microwave to 2 minutes and started cooking
5. Put muffin in the toaster after 30 seconds or so of the eggs and bacon cooking
6. Placed a slice of cheese, then egg, then bacon in between the muffin
7. Microwaved everything together for 10 seconds
8. Cleaned up for a minute and let the sandwich cool a little
9. Feasted on a delicious breakfast sandwich

The actual cooking time only took about 3 minutes. Total time with preparation and clean up was around 7 minutes.

Mario Batali 14-Inch Pizza Pan, Persimmon Review

This pan is great from the design point of veiw; except that its handle is made so fragile. It could break easily if not handled with care. When I first received it, the packing was poorly done and because of that the handle was broken. I observed the handle and noticed that it could break easily if not handled with care. But the baking surface is excellent and the look is excellent too. So I re-ordered it and I am hoping that this time I will get it in tact.
Well, I finally got the second shipment. I still think the packaging is poor for such a fragile item. The packaging from the manufacturer is itself not good; to top it off Amazon's packing was poor also; which is very unusual. Hopefully this will serve as a constructive criticism for future improvement.

KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions Stainless-Steel 4-3/4-Quart Covered Saute Pan with Helper Handle Review

My wife and I purchased this a few weeks ago to replace a similar pan that was teflon coated. We were concerned about the difficulty of cleaning it well, but it is great. Calphalon Contemporary Stainless-Steel 2-Quart Chef's Pan with Glass Lid Review

First of all, in case you're concerned, let me say that the quality of Calphalon's stainless cookware has greatly improved as they have recently made the switch from not-so-good impact-bonded stainless bottom (Simply Stainless) to a tri-ply construction that's on par with All-Clad.
As a result, this pan offers very good heat retention and distribution (i.e. no hot spots), and clean-up is a breeze. Since I got this pan, I have been using it for every thing from small batches of soup, cheese sauce for mac'n'cheese, spinach filling for spanakopita... And with that rounded bottom, I cannot wait to make risotto!
Also, the glass lid fits very nicely and makes it easy to watch what's going on inside your pan.
This is not just a great value for the price -it's a great pan, which just happens to have an unbeatable price.

Rachael Ray Nylon Tools 2-Piece Tong Set, Orange Review

I like these tongs, and I would recommend them for use on "non slippery things." Since these don't have any grooves or "teeth" (rounded or not) they cannot hold onto things that are wet. IE, meats in marinade, chicken out of tray, flipping of firm fish. If they are remotely wet, you have to have a death grip on the meat, and then you could destroy it (trust me I have).

They are a good tong for flipping things on a baking pan, tossing pasta, or using as a mixing utensil if that happens to be the thing you grab without looking. They are very comfy in the hand as well. I would stick to the metal tongs for meat's though, or another silicone tong that has groves that can hold onto wet things better.

All-Clad Master Chef 2 7-Piece Cookware Set Review

Theis set gives a good start for premium cookware. The brushed exterior is great if you don't like to polish your pots and pans all the time. I've found MC2 to the be the best in terms ofbalancing maintenance and quality of cooking. I have a few other pans that are coper or cast iron, but the majority of my cooking is now done in the these (and a few supplement pieces) of the MC2 line.

KitchenArt 57010 Pro Auto Measure Carousel Without Spices, Champagne Satin Review

When I got these I was so excited about the concept. The Idea is great, they are just not put together very well. I bought 2 of these sets. I followed the directions and I mounted them, then filled the individual containers with my spices. They leak. Where the silver in the front meets the plastic on the side there is a gap and it leaks. It's a pretty big gap so even the flaky thicker spices come through and not just the ground up ones. I thought it was just that one, but out of the 2 carousels 24 individual containers 5 of them had this problem. I didn't want to return them because I already have visible holes for mounting and all my spices are loaded up and previous containers thrown away. I called the company and spoke with Brenda and told her my problem. I thought maybe they could send me some individual replacement containers and I would send the defective ones back to her, she said they where 4$ each. I didn't see why I should have to pay for there defective canisters twice. She said she would talk to her manager Owen then called me back and said no again. She was very nice about it but I am still left fixing there defect with silicone or something. So thanks for nothing fox run. fox run is the name of the company that makes these kitchen art items. Still a great concept which is why they got 2 stars.They just need to learn to put them together better and help there customers more to keep them happy.

Decorative Pie Top Cutters Review

I bought this cutter with the domed pie pan. I followed the directions that Nordic Ware gave. The apple cut outs did not cut through and I tried to cut them with a knife and that didn't work. I am very disappointed with this pan and the cutoutbecause I believe in Nordic Ware products.
