Nordic Ware 58148 3D Great Pumpkin Pan Review

Williams sonoma was first to commission this pan's creation from nordic ware and that's when I got mine. It was also featured on the cover of Country Living magazine 2 years ago and the country went gaga over it! It's an absolutely fabulous pan. I used mine for Thanksgiving and golly, what a centerpiece! Even made rolled fondant for the leaves and stem. However, chocolate fudge works well too for the stem, vanilla tinted green for the leaves. This was very easy to make, it stays together very nicely, and is quite the awe-inspiring dish to take to your Thanksgiving gathering. Before I got it, I thought it would be hard to get it out of the pan in one piece, but it was (okay I HAVE to say this!) a PIECE OF CAKE! If you're into making a jack-o-lantern, you can cut orange jelly candy in the shape of a mouth, eyes, nose, etc.There's also a recipe sheet that comes with the pan.The Williams Sonoma version is glazed a little more prettier and I think it makes the cake pop out easier. I'm thrilled to have it and just bought the loaf pan to go with it! Plus, Nordicware is made here in the USA. Great stuff, highly, highly recommend!

Hamilton Beach 63220 Eclectrics All-Metal 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Sterling Review

I was a little skeptical buying a non-KitchenAid mixer, since they seem to be the mixer that every chef has.However, I really liked the look of this one, and it's less expensive, and it has a 3-year warranty as opposed to a 1-year, so I took my chances.Unlike the reviewer before me, I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled it out of the box.It was slightly bigger than I expected (bulkier than our KitchenAid Artisan), but it can still fit under the cabinets even when the head is lifted, and the finish is beautiful.It looks like brushed metal, but it has a glossy coat to make it smooth.The mixer seems very well-made.I had received a KitchenAid commercial style mixer previously as a gift and returned it, because the quality seemed really poor (the finish had numerous scratches and unfinished areas of metal) and it was really big and loud.I was amazed at how quiet the Hamilton Beach mixer was.It's quieter than our Artisan mixer - you can barely hear it at all when it's on lower speeds.I made a batch of cookies and it mixed up fine.I didn't have to scrape the sides any more than with the KitchenAid.One complaint I have is that the bowl feels pretty cheap and doesn't lock as securely as the KitchenAid, and I don't know if any other bowl will fit in it.I've only used the beater attachment so far, but I'm impressed with it.The white coating on it feels really nice and smooth - I was expecting plastic from the picture, but it's actually sturdy metal covered with some kind of glossy enamel.I'm still getting used to the quick-release button in the back as opposed to the lock on the side of the KitchenAid, but I think once I get used to it, it will make things quicker and easier.I was worried I'd regret going with a company I wasn't too familiar with instead of KitchenAid, but I don't regret it at all.It's gorgeous!

Chicago Metallic 6-cup Molten 'N More Pan Review

I absolutely LOVE this pan...I have 10 of them!They're perfect for molten chocolate cakes, cheesecakes and other individual desserts.I recently made 200 individual cheesecakes for an event and this pan produced beautiful results.

Make sure to turn the pan halfway through baking to ensure even results...and use 2.5" parchment circles on the bottoms for easy cleanup.

Corelle Coordinates Enhancements Salt and Pepper Shaker Set Review

Though this salt and pepper set carries the Corelle brand name, it is only old-fashioned ceramic, NOT Corelle.The design is as pictured, and these are a good size for the table or next to the stove, but they do not have the durability I had expected. As a sometimes clumsy cook, I had specifically ordered these to have the added durability I have experienced with Corelle.I'd like to add the sugar and creamer but now I am not sure I can believe any of the product descriptions for these add on pieces.

Old Dutch Half Round Pot Rack Review

I bought this item to replace a round ceiling-mounted pot rack. I couldn't be more pleased with this wall rack. It is much more stable than my previous rack and it takes up less space. I'm confused by the reviewer's statement that the rack only holds 3-4 pans. I have around 2 dozen pots hanging on mine! I am using all the hooks included with this rack as well as some from my previous pot rack. I could actually hang a couple more, but I'm concerned that the wall may not be able to hold too much more weight. The only problem I had with this rack is assembly. I assembled it alone but I recommend having a helper as it's nearly impossible to hold all the slats in the correct curved position without assistance.

All-Clad Stainless 7-1/2-Inch French Skillet Review

I had to alter my cooking procedures slightly from what I did with my old non-stick surface. Using spray olive oil and heating the pan slowly before adding food but once you figure it out the pans work great and omelets and eggs come out perfect with virtually no clean-up. The pans heat evenly and look great on the rack.

Precise Heat Electric Skillet Review

After finally catching this item at a price $50 less than when I first saw it, I am ecstatic that I didn't buy it at the higher price because it isn't worth it.For one, as someone else mentioned, it isn't level, which is quite evident when oil or water is added.I too moved it around to various locations with the same lopsided results.Next, as high as this set was at one time, ($90), one would expect it to be the highest quality of stainless steel, 18/10.The manufacturer claims that the 5 ply cookware consists of 18/8 stainless (304 series) and aluminum alloys.I've read that 18/8 is also high quality but that leaves much to question when the manufacturer suggests using plastic utensils rather than metal ones since those can damage and scratch the finish, which can lead to food tasting metallic.

Not using metal utensils seemed odd since I can use metal utensils in my All Clad stainless skillet without any reservations. With suspicions raised, I got a magnet and surprise, the pan almost snatched it out of my hand and it stuck!It doesn't stick to the All Clad.I thought the 300 series of stainless steel was supposed to be non-magnetic.I have several pieces of 18/10 stainless cookware and a magnet will not stick to any of them.So, it's hard to say what this skillet is actually made out of.I have been looking for an explanation but most say that magnets will not stick to 304 series stainless or 18/8.

Next up is the mysterious ring of white dots that surround the heating element.These appeared after I used the skillet for the first time to fry chicken.I've tried vinegar, stainless steel cleaner, and Soft Scrub, but it's still there, except for that spot where I took a Scotchbrite pad to it and lo and behold, it scratched it up!So now it's spotted and scratched!What a winner!

Now on to the stainless steel lid that's supposed to double as a stovetop skillet or griddle if you flip it over.It does have an encapsulated bottom, it's somewhat thin looking though, and I'm expecting it to start wobbling around on the stovetop at any time!Fortunately, I already have a griddle so I won't have to put this lid to a test that it will probably fail.Lodge Logic Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle

I have a variety of high end cookware pieces to gauge this against, and in my opinion, this set is not to be equated with high quality.I wouldn't recommend it and am seriously considering sending it back because I'm not comfortable with using it since it's doesn't seem to have the same properties as my other stainless steel cookware and those unexplained white spots sort of give me the heebie jeebies!
