Kitchen Aid Cookware: blinQ 11 Inch Stir Fry Pan Berry Red Review

I have purchased this when it was on discount for about $25 in July 2008.

Pros: 1a. The color, the design, and the construction of it is just beautiful, very tasteful, art piece.

1a. It is not your light, cheap pan, it is very heavy, the bottom is very thick and good quality.

1b. The size is as big as a chef's pan, but the shape is not round inside, there are definite corners. So don't imagine that you will easily shake it and round your food in it. This is more like a bigger pot.

2. Cooks really well, very quick and even heat on the food.

3. Healthier compared to a non-stick pan

5. Just right size for a family of 6-7. The shape allows forsoups and gravy, as well as saute, and stirred food. And boiling a big amount of water or liquids.

6. Although the item information says no dishwasher, I could not help, and put it in the dishwasher for at least 5-6 times now, no problem at all.

7. The exterior and inside of the pan is very sparky and smooth, not your ordinary stainless steel.

8. Easy to wash and comes beautiful and sparky after it is done in both dishwasher and hand washing.

Cons:
1. Although it is stainless still with tri-ply construction bottom, the surface ofsteel inside the pan is not so durable. When I used a steel French whip for making pudding, my whip actually made beating marks all over the steel inside. Although the steel is not scraped off or anything and it is not causing a problem in cooking, the steel inside is more delicate than my cheapest and older stainless steel sets, which never wears out or have beat marks on them. So I have these marks, but like I said, they are only causing slight aesthetic issues when you look at carefully inside, and not real deep marks. It is just like the sparky surface is marked with tiny beat marks and not 100% sparky anymore, but I don't mind them as long as I am able to have a good cooking experience.

2. When you wash it with hand, be careful not to use harsh cleaning products such as steel balls , it will be scratched. Mine had scratches and tiny bits of paint scraping on the corner under the pan because of my gas burner's rubbing against it.

3. Although the picture doesn't show a lid, the description says this has a lid, but when I bought it, it did not come with any lid, which was disappointing. Especially thinking that for that big size, it is almost impossible to use another lid that fits unless you have a chef's pan size already.

Overall, I love them and this is a definitely good choice for a present. But I recommend to wait for them to be on the discount.
