We bought this to replace an old Calphalon pot which crashed to our floor and bent out of shape. The old pot was wonderful, but quite heavy and you had to hand wash it. This one retains the nonstick feature (an essential when making split pea soup), yet is much lighter. The glass lid has a vent built into it, making overflows much less likely. Lastly, the whole thing can go into the dishwasher if you want, but is easy to wash by hand, too, especially since it is lighter weight than the old pot. You can maneuver it around. We still have another T-Fal piece that we bought over 20 years ago, and it's still going strong! That's what led us to buy this one.
The one possible negative I could even think of is that it's very tall, making it a little difficult for us folks of shorter stature to ladle out the soup. It is a 12 quart pot, though, so you have to expect the volume to come from somewhere.
Overall, a great pot! And we do a lot of cooking!!!
