I love these bowls. They are a hearty size for any meal, for breakfast (a large bowl of cereal, or cantelope with cottage cheese), lunch (chili with crackers), dinner (a rice bowl with steak, vegetables, and savory sauce, or desert (three scoops of healthier recipe ice cream with caramel sauce). For snacking, they fit a good serving of chips nicely. The bowl bottom has a small footprint making it work well for tray service (big breakfast platter for breakfast in bed on a tray with juice, coffee, and oatmeal on the side in its own bowl, this bowl). I bought 8 and stack them in an elegant dark stain wooden basket from World Market on my dark stain wood carved dining table. For asian soups I use white inexpensive porcelain spoons, and the pairing looks good.
