Kitchen Aid Cookware: Sitram Profiserie 11 InchStainless Steel Lid Review

I bought the same item from Costco (Business division)--same Sitram part number-- for 13 bucks instead of Amazon's 22 bucks.

Decently designed and made, very light weight, with a tiny vent hole near the edge. The finish is polished, not brushed like the Profiserie pots. It fits all the 28 cm rim diameter (so-called 11 inch) Sitram Profiserie pots.For me that means the 28 cm saute pan and frypan (both excellent).This Profiserie lid has a D shaped flat strap handle, with slightly smaller attachment pads than the Catering style.Perhaps the smaller spot weld pad is a weak point, but that's common to all inexpensive commercial grade lids.The more expensive 'Catering' lids have a rod shaped handle with 90 degree sides (a bit more roomy) and bigger attachment pads.The Profiserie rim edge is not actually sharp, nor rough, but it's pretty hard edged -- 'utility' grade, not luxury grade.So don't rub your hand against it.Or maybe smooth it into a nice radius with a steel or a ceramic stick or some emery paper.I haven't bothered. I physically checked a bunch of them, and some were a bit harder edged than others, but none were dangerous.I only comment on this because somewhere on Amazon there is a (no doubt accurate) complaint about a sharp edge on some Sitram object that slipped through QC.

All the Sitram Profiserie stuff is made to be 'rode hard' (although not 'put away wet') by French line cooks and should last me the rest of my life if I don't use it to pound nails or stun burglers.
