Kitchen Aid Cookware: Paderno World Cuisine composite tongs, 7 1/8" Review

I was looking for a cheap pair of tongs because it seems I always need an extra pair. (FYI: When I bought these they were available via Amazon for $3!) I was planning to use these for salads.

First, I should have measured how long 7-1/8" really is, because it is SHORT. But that's not the product's fault...that's my own fault. BUT the actual packaging said these are PASTRY tongs--and had that been in the product description, I certainly wouldn't have purchased these assuming I would use them for salads.

Second, since these are just molded plastic and there is no spring, they do not open very far--just right for smaller pastries, but not really for salad. I will probably end up using them as toast tongs or for bacon or veggies like asparagus--so they WILL be used.

I am only taking off one star because these really should be labeled as pastry tongs.
