Several reviewers have complained that you have to order a lefty peeler if you a right-handed and vice versa. Here in Germany, most people peel towards themselves, as if they are paring a fruit. That's the way this peeler is supposed to be used, and the position of the little scooper allows you to quickly remove potato eyes and other unwanted bits. I find it gives you more control over your peeling. Try it, you'll get used to it quickly and never want to go back to your away-from-you peeler again. This peeler is great for potatoes, just hold it against the potato and rotate. It is sturdy and you can replace the blades if they dull (mine haven't yet and my peeler is about 6 years old and in heavy use). You can get replacement blades too. Williams and Sonoma makes a peeler like this as well but it is far inferior. You won't regret this purchase!
If you are not willing to try peeling towards yourself instead of away, I suggest you don't get either the left or right-handed swivel peeler, but the universal one instead.
